We’ve officially launched our brand-new lineup of custom Aran sweaters and accessories for men and women, fresh off the knitting needles here at our flagship store in Blarney, Cork, Ireland! Yes, you read that right: these sweaters are genuinely made in Blarney. The last time knitwear graced our woolly machines was back in 1971, when Mahony’s Mills bid farewell to its days of wool production. So, after a bit of a… hiatus, we’re back in business!

With just two knitting machines, our production is a bit like a leprechaun’s gold stash—small but mighty. We’re currently cranking out around 30 sweaters daily, so it’s a cozy start, but we like to think it’s the quality that counts!

These sweaters are inspired by the classics, drawing from centuries of tradition. We’ve included the six legendary Aran stitches: Cable (for strength!), Diamond (for prosperity!), Honeycomb (for hard work, obviously), Tree of Ireland (for family!), Moss (for growth!), and Basket (for abundance). Each stitch tells a little story, so every sweater isn’t just keeping you warm—it’s whispering a bit of Irish folklore as you go.

  • Symbolism: It represents the fields on the Aran Islands, reflecting a desire for abundance and success in harvests or ventures.

3. Honeycomb Stitch

  • Description: Moss and seed stitches create a bumpy texture that adds depth between other patterns.
