Connemara Marble Jewelry, A Unique Irish Craft
Connemara Marble is over 900 million years old and found only in Ireland. This rare natural stone is deeply connected to Irish heritage and craftsmanship, making it one of the most distinctive materials used in Irish jewelry today.

Formed from ancient lime sediment on a shallow sea floor, Connemara Marble developed over time through heat and pressure. This natural process created the rich green tones and layered patterns that define the stone. No two pieces are ever the same, giving each item of jewelry its own unique character.

The Story Behind Connemara Marble
We work with one of the oldest marble quarries in Ireland, first opened in the 19th century. The marble is carefully cut into blocks using diamond wire and lifted by crane due to its weight and density.
Today, the only active Connemara Marble quarry is located in Barnanoraun, Connemara, County Galway. Operated by Irish Connemara Marble, this site continues to supply the stone worldwide.

The quarry has been in operation since 1822. For over three generations, it has helped preserve the tradition of Connemara Marble while supporting Irish craftsmanship on a global scale.

The Tara Brooch is a Celtic brooch from around 700 AD and is generally considered to be the most impressive of over 50 elaborate Irish brooches to have been discovered. The traditional brooch is enhanced with unique pieces of Connemara marble, one of the world’s oldest minerals and rarest marbles in the world.
